Skate Buddies Community Team - Free Meet Ups

Skate Buddies Community Team are volunteers from the local skate community that give 1 hour and 30 mins of their time for free to pass on their knowledge and skills of roller skating.

If you are a beginner and don't know where to begin or your coming back to skating after many years, Skate Buddies is here to help you and encourage you on your journey, by connecting you with a local skater at a local park or open space near you.

This is a great way as a soft introduction to the skate community, enabling you to meet new people, connect in with and learn from those around you.

Skate Buddies Performance Crew

Skate Buddies Performance Crew was formed to create a space for the discovery of jamming and dancing on skates. Whether your a complete beginner or more experienced skater we have a space for you to explore your creative skills. We help and support the development of an individuals skating skills and fundamentals, as well as artist development through collaborations with local, regional, national and international groups and organisations.

Skate Buddies School Programmes - Schools 8yrs - 17yrs

Skate Buddies UK CIC provide

6 week Programme 

After School Club

Half Term Sessions

Skate Buddies UK CIC have developed a 6 week roller skating programme for children and young people aged 8yrs to 17 yrs. In this programme they learn roller skating basic skills and fundamentals to get them skating and dancing by the end of the programme, reducing their fear and building their confidence whilst having fun. We do this in partnership with the Urban Sports Partnership in collaboration with St Pauls Children's Development Trust, Clifton Primary School, St Pauls Specialist Education School and Concord Youth Centre. 

 

We offer a free 1 hour taster session to schools so that your able to experience our amazing team at work at no cost to you or the children.

We offer multiple paid packages to suit your school budget and enable your youth to learn a new skill that they can use for the rest of their lives. All staff are trained and DBS checked. 

 

During our 6 week programme they will learn aspects such as:

learning how to fall

How to stop

Emergency Stops 

How to skate forward / backwards 

Transitions and more...

SCHOOL OFFER!!! We offer a free 1 hour taster session for a group of 20 young people aged 8-16yrs old. 

Skate Buddies 6 Week Adult Course 

Skate Buddies UK CIC have developed a 6 week roller skating programme for adults 18+.  In this dynamic programme you learn roller skating basic skills and fundamentals,  as well as strengthening your core muscles, building your endurance and improving your cardio, flexibility, mobility and range of movement with the integrated RollerFitness exercises to get you skate fit. You will have fun, meet new people and meet the members of the local skate community,  you'll be dancing by the end of the programme, reducing your fear of skating and building your confidence and mindset whilst having fun. 

 

We create a fun, safe, warm and welcoming environment that enables you to be at ease, so that you can learn and grow in a space that promotes patience and compassion. 

 

Classes run from CircusMash in King Heath on a Wednesday evening 8pm - 9:30pm

£60 for 6 weeks (£10 per session can be booked separately)

An additional £7.50 for Skate hire and protective gear hire

 

During the sessions you will experience and learn:

30 min RollerFitness - support building your range of movement, muscular strength and endurance

Learn how to fall - reducing fear of falling 

How to stop - building your confidence to skate

Emergency Stops 

How to skate forward / backwards 

Transitions 

How to spin

Dips

Free Community Taster Sessions

Our free taster sessions are made possible through funding and collaborative work. 

 

Skate Buddies have been able to provide free taster session in the community with our partner Bertz Associates in the Birmingham local community. These taster session are set up to give local and regional communities the opportunity to learn to roller skate or come back to roller skating after a long time or injury. We take you slowly and safely through the basic fundamentals and skills to get you started and rolling on your new journey. 

 

We will be continuing this to this with the help and support of UnLtd - Movement for change funding.
